Berger honours interior designers at BAID 2025
Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has hosted the award ceremony of the second Berger Award for Interior Design 2025, recognising creative work in interior design.
The ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on 25 June.
The Berger Award for Interior Design 2025 drew 208 entries across two categories: professional and amateur.
A total of seven projects received awards at the event.
In the professional category, the awarded projects were "Makeovers by Anmon" by Architect Nazifa Tabassum and Architect Azrin Alom; "Kobita Kunjo" by Architect Jubair Hasan and Architect Tahmida Afroze; "SOL" by Architect Utsha Zaman; and "Ajo Idea Space, Gulshan" by Architect Md Rabiul Islam.
In the amateur category, "Bir Chattala" by Sangeeta Chowdhury received an award.
Two commendation awards were also presented in the professional category. The awarded projects were "Jatra Bangladesh" by Architect Sarawat Iqbal and Architect Monon-Bin Yunus, and "Seuil_Bleue" by Architect Rahat Ibna Hasan, Architect Bin Sayeed Bakhti and Architect Raqib Ahmed Sharker.
Architect Professor Shamsul Wares; Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited; and Md Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, attended the event, along with other senior officials of the company.
Architect Jalal Ahmed, Adviser to BAID 2025; Architect Md Ehsan Khan, Jury Chair of BAID 2025; Architect Abu Sayeed M Ahmed, President of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh; and Architect Asifur Rahman Bhuiyan, Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture, were also present.
The jury panel comprised Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, artist Dhali Al Mamoon, Architect Tanya Karim and Architect Mohammed Emran Hossain.
Other architects and designers also attended the ceremony.
Rupali Chowdhury said Berger believes design has the power to transform spaces and improve the way people live and work.
"The Berger Award for Interior Design is a platform that honours creative professionals who bring colour, form and meaning to the spaces around us," she said.
Md Mohsin Habib Chowdhury said the quality and diversity of submissions received for BAID 2025 reflected the growing maturity of Bangladesh's interior design industry.
He said Berger remains committed to supporting initiatives that inspire innovation, encourage excellence and create opportunities for emerging and established designers.
Architect Professor Shamsul Wares said BAID is not merely an award but a reflection of the progress made by a generation of designers.
"What I witnessed here tonight is a testament to how far our interior design community has travelled," he said.
