Bangladesh Bank appoints Imam Abu Sayed as executive director for research
Dr Imam Abu Sayed has been promoted to Executive Director (Research) at Bangladesh Bank and given responsibility for the Monetary Policy Department.
Before the promotion, he served as Director (Research) in different wings of the Monetary Policy Department, the Policy Support Wing of the Chief Economist's Unit, the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy as journal editor, and the Research Department.
Dr Sayed joined Bangladesh Bank as Assistant Director (Research) in 1994.
He began his career in 1993 as Assistant Director (Training) at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre.
During his tenure at the central bank, he pursued higher studies in Canada, including PhD coursework in economics, banking, finance and accounting.
Several articles he authored as an economist have been published in national and international journals.
His work experience includes contributions to national budget-related efforts and to the formulation of Bangladesh Bank's monetary policy.
He also received a gold medal from the Bangladesh Bank in recognition of his contributions as a research economist.
Dr Sayed has written a paper on Bayesian VAR and authored a book titled "Monetary Policy of Bangladesh Bank and National Financial Transactions".
He is a life member of the American Alumni Association, an organisation of US degree holders.
Dr Sayed completed his higher studies in economics, banking, finance and accounting on a self-funded basis.
