All category finals conclude at TBD-AUSTDC Civil Discourse Nationals

The competitive rounds of the TBD X AUSTDC Civil Discourse Nationals 2026 concluded on Sunday, with the university category final held at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).

The school final took place on the opening day of the tournament, followed by the college final on the second day. The university final on Sunday marked the completion of competitions across all three categories, the organisers said.

Jointly organised by The Bangladesh Dialogue (TBD) and the AUST Debating Club (AUSTDC), the tournament began with 82 teams representing schools, colleges and universities from across the country.

Of the participating teams, 46 competed in the school and college categories, while 36 took part in the university category, making it one of the country's largest inter-institutional debating tournaments, according to the organisers.

The opening ceremony featured an address by Meherba Sabrin, assistant general secretary of The Bangladesh Dialogue Foundation.

Siyam Quddus Khan, assistant adviser of Students' Welfare at AUST, and Fahmid Zaman Adnan, treasurer of the AUST Debating Club, were also present at the programme.

Although the competitive rounds have ended, the tournament will formally conclude with a closing ceremony and prize distribution programme at AUST on Wednesday, 29 July.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to attend the programme as chief guest.

Participants and winners from the school, college and university categories will be recognised during the prize-giving ceremony.

The Bangladesh Dialogue is a youth-led policy research organisation working on politics, human rights and policy analysis.

The AUST Debating Club is the official debating body of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and is marking its 12th founding anniversary this year.
