The Bangladesh Dialogue launches climate-action platform KLIMA

The Bangladesh Dialogue (TBD) has launched a new platform named KLIMA to foster collaboration among stakeholders and support locally driven climate initiatives in Bangladesh.

The platform was officially launched on Wednesday during the fourth session of TBD Lens, titled "Environment as a Part of Civil Discourse," according to a press release.

Dr Saimum Parvez, special assistant to the prime minister for environment, forest and climate change affairs, formally unveiled the KLIMA logo at the event.

KLIMA will bring together policymakers, investors, businesses, non-governmental organisations, international non-governmental organisations, young people, local communities and other stakeholders working on climate change and sustainable development.

The platform will focus on promoting Locally Led Adaptation, Nature-based Solutions and greater civic participation in climate action.

It also aims to help transform climate initiatives into practical, investable and commercially viable solutions by facilitating partnerships, financing and innovation.

In addition, KLIMA will advocate for supportive public policies and work towards building a more inclusive climate-action ecosystem, the release said.

Hasibul Islam Rafi was introduced as the coordinator of KLIMA during the programme. He presented the platform's vision for strengthening collaboration among the government, private sector, development organisations, investors, young people and communities.

Under his coordination, KLIMA will work to identify promising climate solutions and connect relevant initiatives with prospective partners and financing opportunities.

The platform will also create opportunities for dialogue among stakeholders and seek to strengthen the participation of young people and local communities in climate-related decision-making.

Prof Dr Mazharul Islam, Dr Nurun Nabi and Mohammad Subail Bin Alam attended the launch programme alongside representatives and stakeholders involved in environmental and climate-related initiatives.

By combining policy dialogue, investment, innovation and civic participation, KLIMA seeks to contribute to building a climate-resilient Bangladesh where locally grounded solutions can be developed, financed and expanded.

The Bangladesh Dialogue is a platform that facilitates discussion and collaboration on issues of national importance. Through initiatives including TBD Lens and KLIMA, it aims to bring diverse stakeholders together to exchange ideas, develop partnerships and contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
