A Sindh Rangers compound in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area came under attack on Saturday night when heavily armed militants launched an assault on the Bhittai Wing facility, security officials said.
The attack began at approximately 8:30 p.m. and was carried out by militants identified as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), says India Today.
Security forces, including Rangers personnel supported by Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos and the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF), launched a counter-operation that lasted about 90 minutes.

During the exchange of fire, authorities advised residents in surrounding areas to remain indoors, while some nearby neighborhoods experienced power outages.
The fighting resulted in the deaths of four Rangers personnel and six militants, according to the information provided. One attacker was captured alive while injured.
Security personnel later cordoned off the area and carried out clearance operations following the end of the confrontation.
The incident marks Karachi's first major militant attack since October 2024. While violence linked to militant groups in the city had declined in recent years, the assault highlighted continuing security challenges in Pakistan's commercial hub.
