What crisis is Iran in behind the mourning processions?
Although millions of people gathered on the streets of Tehran for Khamenei's funeral, analysts say it should not be seen as an unconditional public support for the current Iranian regime. Many attended the event out of religious duty, to witness a historic moment, or for personal reasons. Meanwhile, people's anger over the long-standing economic crisis, inflation, sanctions, political repression, and demands for freedom still remains. So while the funeral may have shown a temporary image of unity, the deep crisis and division within Iran have not yet been resolved.
