Jay-Z and Eminem reunite on Rakim album After 25 years
Hip-hop fans have a major moment to look forward to later this year, as rap legends Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa prepare to release a collaborative album featuring a rare reunion between Jay-Z and Eminem.
The track will mark the first time the two icons have appeared on the same song in 25 years, following their acclaimed 2001 collaboration 'Renegade' from Jay-Z's landmark album 'The Blueprint'.
News of the reunion emerged after executive producer Matthew M80 Markoff shared a preview of the album's track list online. While anticipation quickly spread across social media, Markoff has confirmed that the song will serve as an interlude rather than a full collaboration. Despite not featuring traditional verses from either rapper, the piece will see Jay-Z and Eminem paying tribute to Rakim's immense influence on hip-hop culture.
The album, scheduled for release on 28 August, has been described as a celebration of rap's golden generation. Markoff also revealed that all material on the project was recorded within the last two years, ensuring that the release offers fresh content despite featuring some of the genre's most established names.
Beyond the highly anticipated Jay-Z and Eminem appearance, the album boasts an impressive guest list including Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Buckshot and Daz Dillinger. The project is expected to further cement Rakim's legacy while bringing together several generations of influential hip-hop artists on one record.
