Ex-addl IGP Iqbal Bahar, ex-MP Harunur Rashid among 3 shown arrested in July Uprising murder case
In a separate petition, the investigating officer sought to show that Harunur Rashid Munna and Kazi Monirul Islam Monu were arrested in the same case

A Dhaka court today (7 July) ordered former additional inspector general of police Iqbal Bahar, former Dhaka-5 lawmaker Harunur Rashid Munna, and Jatrabari Thana Awami League President Kazi Monirul Islam Monu to be shown arrested in the murder case of youth Emon Gazi during the July Uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order following two separate petitions filed by police, State Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Suman confirmed.
Earlier, the investigation officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Emadul Karim of Jatrabari Police Station, produced the accused before the court and sought permission to show them arrested in the case.
According to the petition, preliminary evidence gathered during the investigation indicates the involvement of former additional IGP Iqbal Bahar in the killing. He is currently in jail after being arrested in another murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
The investigating officer said it was necessary to show him arrested in the case in the interest of a fair and impartial investigation.
In a separate petition, the investigating officer sought to show that Harunur Rashid Munna and Kazi Monirul Islam Monu were arrested in the same case.
The petition said preliminary evidence suggests that Md Yasin Uddin, alias "Shooter Liton", fatally shot Emon Gazi under the direct instructions and instigation of Harunur Rashid Munna and Kazi Monirul Islam Monu. Both are currently in jail in connection with separate murder cases.
According to the case statement, Emon Gazi was shot dead on 5 August on Chittagong Road in the capital's Jatrabari area during the July Uprising.
Following the incident, the victim's brother, Anwar Hossain, filed the murder case with Jatrabari Police Station on 28 August.
