Murder accused re-arrested after escaping from Jatrabari Police Station; sent to jail
She allegedly managed to escape from the lock-up by using a ruse on 27 August.
A woman accused in a murder case was re-arrested and sent to jail today (29 August), two days after she allegedly escaped from Jatrabari Police Station with her two-year-five-month-old child.
Metropolitan Magistrate Manzurul Islam passed the order after investigation officer SI Soumitra Sarkar produced Mitu Akter before the court and sought her detention in jail.
Mohin Uddin, a sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police prosecution division, confirmed the matter.

According to the investigation officer's petition, Mitu was arrested as a suspect in the murder case and was granted three days' remand on 24 August. Investigation officer Hasan Kabir then took her to Jatrabari Police Station for questioning.
Mitu had her two-year-five-month-old child with her while she was being questioned repeatedly about the incident at the police station's women and children help desk under the watch of a female constable.
On 27 August, Mitu managed to open the door and flee the station with her child, according to the petition.
Police re-arrested her around 12:10am yesterday from the Kadamtali area of Keraniganj, where she was staying at her friend's sister's residence.
No lawyer appeared for Mitu during today's hearing.
Meanwhile, SI Khandakar Abu Saleh Naim filed a case with Jatrabari Police Station on 28 August over her escape from police custody.
The murder case remains under investigation.
