Gold price rises again, crosses Tk2.28 lakh per bhori
Bajus raises 22-carat gold price by Tk4,374 per bhori; silver prices also increase.
The price of gold in Bangladesh has increased for the second consecutive day, with the rate of 22-carat gold rising by Tk4,374 per bhori to Tk228,556, including VAT.
The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) announced the revised rates in a notice today (3 July). The new prices took effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
Under the revised pricing, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 21-carat gold will cost Tk218,292, while 18-carat gold has been priced at Tk187,440 per bhori. The price of traditional gold has been set at Tk153,148 per bhori.
The latest revision comes a day after Bajus raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori, taking it to Tk224,182, including VAT.
Bajus said the listed prices apply to gold sold at jewellery outlets nationwide, although making charges will vary depending on the design of individual ornaments.
The association also noted that VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver jewellery, meaning retailers cannot charge customers additional VAT separately. Existing rules governing the exchange and purchase of ornaments will remain unchanged, excluding specified VAT, making charges and the cost of stones.
According to Bajus, gold prices have been revised 86 times in the domestic market so far this year, including 43 increases, 42 reductions, and one VAT adjustment.
Silver prices also increased under the latest revision. The price of 22-carat silver rose by Tk117 to Tk4,899 per bhori. Bajus set the price of 21-carat silver at Tk4,666 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk4,024, and traditional silver at Tk3,033 per bhori.
So far this year, the association has revised silver prices 53 times, including 27 increases and 26 reductions.
