Argentina look to sign off group stage in style
Lionel Messi's Argentina have already sealed top spot in Group J, but the world champions will look to complete a perfect group-stage campaign before turning their focus to the knockout rounds.
Argentina will look to complete a flawless Group J campaign when they face World Cup debutants Jordan at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday (27 June), with the reigning champions already assured of top spot and a place in the Fifa World Cup 2026 round of 32.
The match kicks off at 8am on Sunday (BST).
Lionel Scaloni's side have lived up to their billing, winning their opening two matches with authority. Captain Lionel Messi has led the charge with five goals, including a hat-trick against Algeria and a match-winning brace against Austria that made him the highest goal scorer in World Cup history.
With qualification secured, Scaloni is expected to rotate his squad ahead of the knockout stage. Lionel Messi could be seen in the second half of the match, while defender Cristian Romero is unlikely to feature following a minor knee problem.
Nicolas Otamendi is expected to partner Lisandro Martinez in central defence, and Julian Alvarez could make his first start after recovering from an ankle injury.
Jordan, meanwhile, have already been eliminated after defeats to Austria and Algeria but will be eager to end their first World Cup campaign on a positive note.
Captain Ihsan Haddad, winger Mousa Al Tamari and striker Ali Olwan will look to trouble an Argentina side expected to make several changes.
Even with a rotated lineup, Argentina possess remarkable depth through Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernandez and Nico Gonzalez, making the world champions overwhelming favourites to carry their winning momentum into the knockout stage.
