Two-day CSE Carnival begins at DUET
Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur, has inaugurated the two-day CSE Carnival 2026, bringing together more than 1,200 students from over 100 universities.
The carnival, themed "Innovate Today, Lead Tomorrow," began on Friday (26 June) under the initiative of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Engineer Mohammad Iqbal inaugurated the carnival as the chief guest.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Arefin Kowser attended the opening ceremony as a special guest.
Speaking at the inauguration, Professor Dr Engineer Mohammad Iqbal said Bangladesh stands at the threshold of the fifth industrial revolution and must build its future through the young generation.
He said young people will open new doors of knowledge, innovation, and opportunity by embracing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, data science, cybersecurity, virtual reality, and robotics.
"The CSE Carnival is an effective platform to nurture that potential and a vibrant gathering of talent, innovation, and mutual collaboration," he said.
The vice-chancellor said the carnival's experience, learning, and networking will strengthen the foundation for future research, start-ups, and technology-driven industrial development while maintaining environmental balance.
He added that Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology is committed to fostering an academic environment where education, research, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration produce globally competent human resources.
"We want to develop students who are not only job seekers, but also employment creators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and partners in global technology leadership," he said.
After the inauguration, the vice-chancellor visited the mobile science exhibition by the National Museum of Science and Technology, where he experienced a virtual three-dimensional environment using four-dimensional glasses and a head-mounted device.
Speaking as a special guest, Professor Dr Md Arefin Kowser said that events such as the CSE Carnival help students develop their talents, creativity, and technological capacity, while providing opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.
He encouraged students to use the knowledge gained from the carnival to prepare themselves through research and innovation, and to contribute to building a new Bangladesh.
