One dengue patient dies, 198 hospitalised in 24 hours
Dengue infections are rising rapidly outside Dhaka, with districts accounting for 78% of all hospitalised patients and more than half of the deaths recorded so far this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Bangladesh recorded one dengue-related death and 198 new hospital admissions due to the mosquito-borne disease in the 24 hours until this morning (25 June), according to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The information was disclosed in a press release issued today by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS.
Among the 198 new patients, 49 are from Barishal Division, 15 from Chattogram Division, 26 from Dhaka Division, 31 from Khulna Division, 13 from Mymensingh Division and five from Rajshahi Division all outside the respective city corporation areas.
In the capital, 28 new patients were reported from Dhaka North City Corporation and 31 from Dhaka South City Corporation.

So far, 13 dengue-related deaths have been reported this year, of which eight occurred within the first 25 days of June.
During the 24-hour period, 148 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the tally of recoveries this year to 5,067.
The total number of dengue cases in the country this year now stands at 5,515.
According to DGHS data, a total of 102,861 dengue cases and 413 dengue-related deaths were recorded in 2025.
In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease.
