Inu, Menon shown arrested in July attempted murder case
Earlier, the investigating officer in the case produced the two men before the court and requested that they be arrested in the case.
Former members of parliament Hasanul Haque Inu and Rashed Khan Menon have been formally shown arrested again in an attempted murder case filed over the shooting of Md Mokhlesin in the capital's Bangshal during the 2024 July Uprising.
The order was issued today (22 June) by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter after police submitted an application seeking their arrest in connection with the case, confirmed State prosecutor Harun Or Rashid.
Earlier, the investigating officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Md Ashraf Hossain of Bangshal Police Station, produced the two men before the court and requested that they be arrested in the case.
According to the application, evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that the accused were involved in the incident, making it necessary to show them arrested in the case. After considering the application, the court granted the request.
According to the case statement, the complainant, Md Mokhlesin, was shot while taking part in a procession on Nazimuddin Road near Chankharpul intersection on 5 August 2024. He was later taken to Mitford Hospital by local residents.
Following the incident, Mokhlesin filed an attempted murder case on 1 January last year.
