Billie Eilish and James Cameron team up for 3D concert film
Pop star Billie Eilish and blockbuster filmmaker James Cameron have collaborated on a new 3D concert movie documenting the singer's recent tour dates in Manchester.
Captured over four nights at the Co-op Live arena during her Hit Me Hard And Soft world tour, the film utilises miniature 3D cameras to provide an immersive, on-stage perspective of the live shows. The project also features extensive behind-the-scenes footage of Eilish's pre-show preparations.
The unexpected partnership originated through a mutual connection between their families, which prompted the 71-year-old Avatar director to pitch the 3D concept directly to the 24-year-old singer via email.
Speaking at the film's recent blue-carpet premiere in London's Leicester Square, Cameron described the project as a celebration of authentic musical performance. He noted that capturing genuine live shows feels particularly vital today, serving as a reminder of real human artistry in the growing age of artificial intelligence.
Eilish, who drew massive crowds to the London premiere, praised Cameron's direction, noting that the collaboration completely shifted her perspective on how a live arena show could be translated into a cinematic format.
