Iran dissatisfied with Bangladesh's stance on Mideast war: Ambassador
Tehran expected Dhaka to condemn the aggressors, says Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi.
Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi has said Tehran is not satisfied with the statement issued by the Bangladesh government on the US-Israeli war on Iran in the Middle East.
Iran expects Bangladesh to condemn the role of what it described as aggressive forces, he said today (1 April) while responding to questions from journalists at a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka.
The ambassador said Iran is hurt by the statement of the Bangladesh government on the war, remarking that the statement should have been clearer.
Noting that Bangladesh is a Muslim country, he said Tehran expected Bangladesh to condemn the aggressive forces against Iran.
But that did not happen, which is disappointing for Iran, he added.
Asked whether Iran will formally communicate its dissatisfaction to Dhaka, the ambassador said no such letter will be sent. However, he added that he will raise the issue if he meets the prime minister of Bangladesh.
Jahanabadi said Bangladesh, as a member of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), could have condemned the aggressive forces targeting Iran. He mentioned that Russia and China, despite not being Muslim countries, have issued condemnations.
