Prime Bank leads agricultural credit campaign in Madhabpur
An upazila-based agricultural credit campaign, discussion meeting and open loan distribution programme was held in Madhabpur, Habiganj, today, 7 July 2026, to expand banking services for farmers and support agricultural production.
The event was held under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank, Sylhet, with the participation of 15 scheduled banks operating in Madhabpur Upazila. Prime Bank PLC was the lead bank for the programme.
Md Javed Ahmed, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as chief guest.
The meeting was chaired by Md Mehedi Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Madhabpur Upazila, while Syed Sajjad Haider Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC, attended as special guest.
As part of the programme, 50 farmers received agricultural loan cheques.
Speakers said public loan distribution helps make the loan process more transparent, faster and easier for farmers. An awareness video on agricultural loans was also shown to farmers and local people.
The event was attended by the agriculture officer, fisheries officer and livestock officer of Madhabpur Upazila; Md Humayun Kabir, Regional Head of Prime Bank PLC, Sylhet Region; Shahana Parveen, Head of Agro Business of Prime Bank PLC; and branch managers and officials of the participating scheduled banks.
The speakers highlighted the importance of agricultural loans in increasing food production, improving farmers' livelihoods and supporting the country's economy.
They also assured farmers of continued banking support and technical assistance to help them expand their agricultural activities.
