BUP approves Tk149.34cr budget at senate meeting
The Bangladesh University of Professionals convened its 18th annual senate meeting today (30 June) at the BUP Senate Hall, underscoring its ongoing commitment to academic and institutional excellence.
The meeting was presided over by Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, Vice Chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Professionals and Chairman of the Senate.
At the outset, the vice chancellor expressed gratitude to outgoing members for their contributions and welcomed the newly appointed members.
In his address, Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam highlighted that the Bangladesh University of Professionals, despite being a relatively young institution, has earned recognition through the achievements of its students, faculty members and researchers.
He noted that students and faculty members have participated in academic competitions, research activities, seminars, workshops and innovation programmes at both national and international levels, further strengthening the university's reputation.
The senate chairman stated that the Bangladesh University of Professionals places strong emphasis on discipline and ethics alongside academic education, with a commitment to developing disciplined, ethical and responsible citizens.
He added that the university regularly organises discussions, symposiums and cultural programmes highlighting Bangladesh's culture, heritage and national days to instil moral values, integrity, social responsibility and patriotism among students.
He also noted that the Bangladesh University of Professionals publishes several internationally recognised research journals to disseminate research findings at home and abroad.
The vice chancellor said the Bangladesh University of Professionals is developing an education system that prioritises academic excellence, leadership, creativity, critical thinking, technological competence and problem-solving skills in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and a rapidly changing global environment.
The meeting was informed that extensive development work has been completed on the Bangladesh University of Professionals' western campus.
The completed facilities include three modern 14-storey academic buildings, two separate 14-storey residential halls for students, and two residential buildings for faculty members, officers and staff.
The chairman said the Bangladesh University of Professionals is working to strengthen internationalisation by increasing the participation of foreign students and faculty members, expanding collaboration with international universities and fostering an inclusive, multicultural academic environment.
Treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan presented the revised budget of Tk143.99 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year and the proposed budget of Tk149.34 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Following discussion, the senate unanimously approved the proposed budget.
The Senate also reviewed and approved the 18th annual report.
The meeting was conducted by Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan, Registrar of the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Members of parliament, secretaries from various ministries, senior officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and senior officials of the Bangladesh University of Professionals attended the meeting.
