BGB deployed in 11 districts as floods, landslides hit communities
Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed across 11 districts to bolster rescue, relief and recovery operations, as relentless rainfall, flash floods and landslides continue to batter communities.
The affected districts are Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chattogram, Feni, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Jamalpur.
Border Guard Bangladesh personnel are evacuating residents, arranging safe shelter, distributing relief supplies, providing emergency medical assistance, restoring disrupted transport links and safeguarding vulnerable infrastructure.
The force is monitoring the flood situation around the clock at 90 points in the affected districts, ensuring immediate rescue operations and humanitarian support as required.
In Bandarban, Border Guard Bangladesh has rescued more than 600 people from 122 families, including 116 tourists, and relocated them to safe shelters. The force has also distributed food and provided emergency medical treatment to 48 individuals.
Border Guard Bangladesh personnel restored connectivity on the Bandarban–Rowangchhari road by clearing uprooted trees and debris.
In Naikhongchhari, the force has implemented emergency measures to protect a steel bridge threatened by soil erosion. Efforts are ongoing to ensure safe movement for local residents.
Border Guard Bangladesh said coordinated action, rapid response and humanitarian assistance are critical to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the disaster.
Alongside securing the country's borders, supporting communities during disasters and humanitarian crises is an integral part of the force's mandate and commitment, the force said.
Border Guard Bangladesh's rescue, relief, medical and other humanitarian operations will continue until the situation stabilises.
