Only four captains in World Cup history have lifted the trophy before turning 26. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi became the second-oldest captain to win the World Cup, leading Argentina to victory in 2022 at the age of 35 years and 177 days, behind only Italy's Dino Zoff, who was 40 years and 133 days old when he captained Italy to victory in 1982.
