Bangladesh highlights inclusive digital public infrastructure at UN forum
Bangladesh is advancing an ambitious roadmap to build an inclusive digital public infrastructure and strengthen citizen participation in public service delivery, Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Faqir Mahbub Anam told a global forum.
The minister made the remarks at a high-level roundtable during the United Nations Public Service Forum 2026 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
He said digital public infrastructure is not merely a technological matter for Bangladesh, but a key instrument of good governance.
"Our objective is to ensure that every citizen, regardless of location, can access public services with the same ease as those in the capital," Faqir Mahbub Anam said.
The minister added that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, remains committed to building a digital-first governance model.
He noted that citizens can already access integrated public services through the government's payment platform EkPay, the myGov application, the National Web Portal, and the 333 national helpline.
The government is also working to ensure affordable, high-quality internet and smart devices for all within the next three years, he said.
Regarding citizen feedback, Faqir Mahbub Anam said the Cabinet Division's Grievance Redress System and the e-Participation platform allow citizens to share opinions and lodge complaints directly.
He added that the government plans to introduce an e-Participation Ranking soon to further strengthen the accountability of public institutions.
