Two-day CSE Carnival ends at DUET
Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur, concluded its two-day CSE Carnival 2026 on Saturday, 27 June, 2026, through a closing ceremony and prize distribution programme.
The carnival was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology.
The closing ceremony was held at the university's Shaheed Shakil Parvez Auditorium.
Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Engineer Mohammad Iqbal attended the event as the chief guest.
Professor Dr Md Arefin Kowser, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology; Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur; and Mohammad Tawrit, Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Research and Education Network, attended as special guests.
Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee President and Brac University Professor Dr Mohammad Kaykobad attended the event as an honoured guest.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Professor Dr Engineer Mohammad Iqbal said the participation of more than 1,200 technology-focused students from over 100 universities across the country had turned the event into a major technology festival.
He said the carnival demonstrated a strong combination of technology, creativity and innovation over two days, reflecting the excellence of the university and its students in knowledge and technology.
"Our Department of Computer Science and Engineering is not limited to classroom teaching. Through practical learning, research, innovation and technology-driven solutions to real-life problems, it is continuously working to produce skilled technologists, innovators and responsible researchers of the future," he said.
The vice-chancellor said every project, idea and presentation at the carnival reflected the immense potential and dedicated efforts of the students.
He added that knowledge and skills acquired at university should not be used only for personal success, but also for the welfare of society and humanity.
"Our real objective should be to improve everyone's quality of life through the use and development of technology, while upholding our commitment to social responsibility," he said.
Professor Dr Md Arefin Kowser said organising the two-day carnival was a matter of pride for Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology.
He said the creative ideas presented at the carnival reflected the talent and hard work of the students.
"The success of this event shows that computer science is not only about coding. It is the art of solving problems, a world of innovation and the foundation for building the future," he said.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan said science is like the eye, while technology is like the hand that solves problems.
He said the participating students were developing technology-based solutions to problems in agriculture, engineering, technology, medicine and other fields, which he found inspiring.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Professor Dr Mamtaz Begum, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Professor Dr Utpal Kumar Das, Director of Student Welfare; and Professor Dr Moha Abu Tayeb, Registrar (Additional Charge) and Project Director of the DUET chapter of Innoverse Bangladesh's National Science and Technology Carnival 2026, also spoke at the event.
Competition judges Professor Dr Mohammad Abul Kashem, Professor Dr Md Obaidur Rahman and Professor Dr Fazlul Hasan Siddiqi, along with Assistant Professor Dr Umme Fawzia Rahim, Organising Secretary of the carnival, were present on the stage.
Heads of different departments, directors, teachers, students, officials and employees of the university also attended the event.
The carnival was held as part of Innoverse Bangladesh's National Science and Technology Carnival 2026, in association with DUET Computer Society and WhiteBoard Initiatives.
More than 1,200 students from over 100 universities across the country took part in the two-day event.
On the first day, participants competed in the ICT Olympiad and Project Showcasing. On the closing day, they participated in the Inter-University Programming Contest and the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon, demonstrating their skills, creativity, and innovative thinking.
The carnival concluded with a networking session and the distribution of prizes to the winners.
