BAEC signs MoUs with five institutions to boost research and innovation
The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with five leading domestic and international academic and industry institutions to strengthen scientific research, higher education, and technological innovation in support of national development.
The partner institutions are Jashore University of Science and Technology, Daffodil International University, Dhaka International University, Premier Minerals Limited and Similitude Private Limited.
The MoUs were signed at a programme held on Monday morning (26 January 2026) at the mini auditorium of BAEC headquarters in Agargaon. Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md Anwar Hossain attended the event as chief guest.

In his address, the Secretary emphasised maximising the use of limited resources through mutual collaboration and promoting the commercial application of scientific and technological innovations.
The signing ceremony, chaired by BAEC Chairman Dr Md Mujibur Rahman, was attended by Vice-Chancellors of the participating universities, representatives of the partner institutions, heads of organisations under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chairman of Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation, senior ministry officials, and scientists and officials of BAEC.
Under the MoUs signed with the universities, the parties will strengthen research and knowledge exchange through joint research initiatives, shared use of laboratory and training facilities, and the organisation of academic programmes.
In addition, the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), operating under BAEC, will promote collaborative research with JUST in nuclear imaging, radiopharmaceuticals, radiation therapy, and biomedical technologies for medical applications.
At the international level, BAEC's collaboration with Australia's Similitude Private Limited includes the implementation of a medicinal maggot therapy programme, establishment of pilot production facilities, and training of healthcare professionals.
Meanwhile, the MoU signed with Premier Minerals Limited, an Australian company registered in Singapore, will facilitate the extraction of heavy mineral resources in coastal regions, along with research and geological survey activities, thereby enhancing national capacity in this area.
Overall, these MoUs reflect BAEC's commitment to advancing national health, education, industry, and technology by strengthening research capacity, encouraging innovation, and translating scientific research into practical, real-world applications.
