Measles: Death toll reaches 860 as 6 more children die in 24 hours
A total of 1,15,879 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country.
Six more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am today (6 August), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 860.
According to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 764 while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths has reached 96.
A total of 733 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 13,3638.
Meanwhile, 85 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 16,740.
Since 15 March, a total of 1,15,879 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 1,11,587 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
