Dhaka South administrator pledges to regulate rickshaws
Various problems in the capital have increased since 5 August 2024 and there was a lack of proper oversight during the interim government's tenure, says Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Abdus Salam.
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Abdus Salam has said the administration will try to bring rickshaws under a regulatory framework, something previous administrations had failed to do.
Efforts are underway to bring street hawkers in the capital under discipline, he mentioned while speaking as the chief guest at a memorial held at the National Press Club today (13 May) to mark the 11th death anniversary of BNP leader Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu.
Abdus Salam said various problems in the capital have increased since 5 August 2024, adding that there was a lack of proper oversight during the interim government's tenure.
He also claimed that child deaths are occurring due to failure in procuring measles vaccines.
Recalling Pintu's political life and contributions, Abdus Salam said he never compromised with injustice and never bowed his head. "Nasiruddin Pintu was a burning symbol of struggle and movement."
He added that not only Lalbagh, Chawkbazar or Kamrangirchar, but nationalist forces across Bangladesh remember him with respect today.
"He was killed through conspiracy and justice for this killing will be delivered on the soil of Bangladesh," the Dhaka South administrator said.
