Another alleged FCS member detained in Jashore over extremist links

Another individual has been detained last night (9 July) by the District Detective Branch (DB) Police in Jashore over allegations of involvement in extremist activities.
The detainee identified as Tahsin Islam, 19.
He was detained from his residence in Kismat Noapara area of Jashore Sadar upazila at around 9pm.
Jashore Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Mirajul Islam said Tahsin was detained in connection with a case filed by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He added that Tahsin is also an accused in a previous robbery case, in which he was listed as the third accused.
According to police, Tahsin admitted during preliminary interrogation to being associated with the organisation known as Fatah Combat System (FCS).
Police added that a search of his room led to the seizure of a machete, wires, and several electronic devices.
Based on information obtained from him, police said they have found no evidence of any active members or organisational activities of the group in Jashore.
The ASP said Tahsin was handed over to the CTTC unit after the completion of the necessary legal procedures.
Earlier, on 5 July, police detained six young men in the capital's Jatrabari area on suspicion of gathering to carry out extremist activities.
