33 senior police officers, including 14 DIGs, sent on compulsory retirement
The notification said the retired officers would receive retirement benefits in accordance with the applicable service rules.
The government has sent 33 senior police officers, including 14 deputy inspectors general (DIGs), on compulsory retirement.
The decision was announced today (5 July) through a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The notification was signed by Senior Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury on behalf of the president.
Besides the 14 DIGs, the officers sent on compulsory retirement include 18 additional deputy inspectors general (additional DIGs) and one superintendent of police (SP).
The notification said the retired officers would receive retirement benefits in accordance with the applicable service rules.

Under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, the government may, in the public interest, retire a public servant without assigning any reason once they have completed 25 years of service.
The officers, who belong to the 20th BCS batch, joined government service on 31 May 2001. Accordingly, they completed 25 years of service on 30 May this year.
