2 Bangladeshi expats killed in Saudi road crash
The siblings were returning to Jeddah from Riyadh when their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision, family says.
Two Bangladeshi expatriates were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia early today (16 July), leaving their family and neighbours in mourning in Chandraganj upazila of Lakshmipur.
The deceased siblings were identified as Foyez Ahmed Sajeeb, 29, and Farhad Hossain Sujon, 21, sons of Abdul Malek from Ganipur village under Chandraganj Union.
According to their family, the accident occurred at around 2am Bangladesh time while the brothers were travelling by a private car from Riyadh to Jeddah after purchasing goods for their business.
Quoting the victims' colleagues, Abdul Malek said an oncoming vehicle collided head-on with the car carrying his sons, crushing its front portion. Both brothers sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
"My two sons died together. I request everyone to pray for the eternal peace of their souls," Abdul Malek said, urging the government to help repatriate their bodies as quickly as possible.
The family has also appealed to the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the relevant authorities to facilitate the return of the bodies so they can be buried in their family graveyard in Lakshmipur.
Chandraganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nilufa Yasmin Nipa said the administration had not yet received official information about the incident but would look into the matter and provide necessary assistance.
