NEET protest continues as Modi calls for severe punishment over paper leak

Facing agitation by the Cockroach Janta Party, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said strong action was taken against those involved in the NEET paper leaks even as the agitation continued at Jantar Mantar.
Modi made the remarks at a meeting of the NDA MPs in New Delhi, a day after thousands of youth led by the CJP took part in a "march to parliament" against alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and to demand Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
BJP MP Ravi Kishan told the media that the "Prime Minister emphasized on how culprits of NEET paper leak should be given such severe punishment so that no one dares to tamper with the future of children in future."

At a formal media briefing after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister told MPs that the government acted immediately after reports of the paper leak surfaced and 13 people were arrested and sent to jail.
"At the same time, the Prime Minister said that to ensure that students' future was not affected, the NEET re-examination was given priority, conducted successfully, and the results were declared without delay," Rijiju said after the hour-long meeting.
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party protesters camped at Jantar Mantar through the night despite heavy rain, tight security and a police crackdown on them during the "Sansad Chalo" march a day ago.
Volunteers cleaned the CJP protest site at Jantar Mantar while CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke apologised to supporters injured in the police action yesterday.
Heavy security remained in place around the protest venue as volunteers were seen cleaning the stage, the only structure left standing after police removed the tents and other temporary installations on Monday.
Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, were adjourned twice today as opposition lawmakers continued to target the government over the police lathi charge on students protesting the NEET examination paper leak.
