12 nations unite against Israel over West Bank occupation
Twelve countries—including the UK, France, and Canada—have imposed a ban on the import of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, in opposition to Israel's occupation and the expansion of these settlements. In a joint statement issued on September 7, they asserted that Israel's settlement expansion threatens the viability of a two-state solution. While the ban is not expected to have a significant economic impact, its political message is significant. However, Israeli leaders have vehemently opposed the decision, calling for retaliatory measures such as expelling the British ambassador and closing the embassy.
