NATO allies discuss how to restore freedom of navigation through Strait of Hormuz
NATO's top commander, General Alexus Grynkewich, has brought together interested allies to discuss possible measures to support freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. But NATO insists this is not an official alliance mission.
As France and Britain lead plans for an independent maritime coalition of roughly a dozen countries, the goal is to guarantee safe passage once tensions ease. With the Strait of Hormuz previously carrying around one-fifth of all traded oil, the stakes remain high.
