CMA CGM San Antonio Ship Hit in Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz is facing renewed tension after CMA CGM confirmed that its container ship, the San Antonio, was struck by an unknown projectile while traveling through the vital shipping corridor. The attack damaged the vessel and injured several crew members, who were later evacuated for medical treatment. UKMTO reported the incident after the ship's transponders stopped transmitting near UAE waters.
The incident comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding US-Iran relations and President Donald Trump's temporary pause on "Project Freedom", a plan to escort commercial vessels through the region. With multiple maritime incidents reported in recent days, shipping companies are now taking a cautious approach towards routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
