Experts urge cancellation of Panthakunja ramp, warn of environmental damage and worsening traffic

At the roundtable, urban planner Professor Adil Muhammad Khan called for cancelling the Elevated Expressway ramp at the Panthakunja Park section.

Since the monsoon began, potholes have opened up along the one‑way road around Hatirjheel as asphalt and brickwork have broken loose. Rainwater often conceals their depth, leaving drivers at risk of getting stuck or causing accidents. The photo was taken in Rampura, Hatirjheel, on Sunday. Photo: Syed Zakir Hossain

Pollution, foul odour make Hatirjheel a turn-off for visitors, commuters

Despite its status as a high-profile city artery, Hatirjheel's 8km circular road is riddled with potholes and non-functional streetlights, as shown by this struggling car and ambulance on Tuesday. The poor maintenance turns the road into a perilous, visibility-poor trap after dark and in the rain, demanding immediate repair. Photo: Md Jahidul Islam
