The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has charged several players, team officials and franchise representatives with alleged breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code following investigations linked to the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the BCB said the charges stemmed from investigations conducted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU) into alleged corrupt conduct, betting activities, obstruction of investigations and failures to cooperate with anti-corruption officials during the tournament.
Among those charged is team manager Md. Lablur Rahman, who has been accused under Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for allegedly failing to cooperate with an investigation and obstructing the inquiry by concealing, deleting or destroying relevant communications and information.
Franchise co-owner Md. Towhidul Haque Towhid faces identical charges. According to the BCB, he allegedly failed to comply with a Demand Notice issued under Article 4.3 of the Code and obstructed the investigation into possible corrupt conduct.
Domestic cricketer Amit Mojumder and team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique have each been charged under Article 2.2.1 of the Code, which relates to placing, accepting or entering into bets connected to cricket matches.
The BCB said all charged participants have been provisionally suspended and given 14 days from receiving their notices of charge to respond to the allegations.
"The BCB will not make any further comment in respect of these matters at this stage," the board said in its statement.
Separately, the BCB also confirmed that it has issued an Exclusion Order against Saminur Rahman under the BCB Excluded Person Policy following a separate investigation into alleged corrupt activities linked to multiple editions of the BPL, including the ninth, tenth and eleventh seasons.
According to the board, the investigation uncovered alleged betting-related activities, alleged corrupt approaches to players and agents, communications with individuals linked to domestic and international betting and corruption networks, and alleged involvement in facilitating corrupt conduct in cricket matches.
The BCB said Saminur Rahman waived his right to respond to the Notice of Intended Exclusion Order and accepted the sanction imposed under the policy.
