First-ever ‘The Last Airbender’ prequel: Paramount orders 'Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos'
The animated series will follow the Water Tribe Avatar, three generations before Aang.
Paramount+ has ordered a new animated series, "Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos", centred on the Water Tribe Avatar who lived three generations before Aang, the protagonist of "Avatar: The Last Airbender".
The announcement was made during a New York Comic-Con panel for "Avatar: Seven Havens", the latest series in the Avatar franchise, which premiered on Paramount+ on Friday.
Franchise co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko unveiled the project during the panel, which was moderated by Janet Varney, the voice actor behind Korra in "The Legend of Korra".
According to the official description, "Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos" will follow a rebellious teenage Avatar who breaks with thousands of years of tradition by travelling the world to learn all four elements. Along the way, he must stay ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates and chaotic spirits while helping the world in his own way.
Paramount+ also released first-look images from the upcoming series. An official release date has yet to be announced.
