‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ renewed for seasons 3 and 4 after first S01 episodes drop
This time, the Avatar is seen as a villain rather than a saviour.
The new animated series "Avatar: Seven Havens", the latest addition to "The Last Airbender" franchise, has been renewed for seasons 3 and 4, days after the first three of season 1's 13 episodes were released.
The show's creators announced the renewal at New York Comic-Con on Friday, coinciding with the launch of the new series on Paramount+, according to Variety.
The panel featured "Avatar" creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, executive producer Ethan Spaulding, co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi, and voice actors Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan and Major Curda. Janet Varney, who voiced Korra in "The Legend of Korra", moderated the discussion.
The first three episodes are now available on Paramount+, with three more episodes scheduled for release every Friday until 30 October. A premiere date for the 13-episode second season, which was commissioned alongside the first, has not yet been announced.
The new sequel series is set 225 years after the end of "The Legend of Korra" and introduces two twin Avatars tasked with saving a world devastated by a mysterious cataclysm.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" follows Pavi, voiced by Saheli Khan, and her long-lost twin sister, Nisha, voiced by Aishu Devan. As the young benders discover that they are the new Avatars after Korra, they also learn that they are viewed as a threat to humanity rather than its saviours.
The two sisters must uncover the truth about their origins and save the Seven Havens, the last strongholds of civilisation, from collapse. Along the way, they face threats from both humans and spirits.
The voice cast also includes Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet, Ruhi and Camodillo.
DiMartino and Konietzko created the new series and also serve as executive producers through Avatar Studios. Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios are producing the show.
The creators also announced at the panel that Paramount+ has ordered another animated series, "Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos". It will follow Kuruk, the Water Tribe Avatar who lived three generations before Aang.
