Cillian Murphy leads stars at ‘Peaky Blinders’ film premiere in Birmingham
Cillian Murphy led a star-studded lineup in Birmingham for the world premiere of The Immortal Man, the highly anticipated feature film continuation of the Peaky Blinders saga. Hundreds of fans, many sporting the show's signature flat caps and tweed, gathered at the city's Symphony Hall to welcome cast members including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and returning stars Stephen Graham and Sophie Rundle.
Directed by Tom Harper and written by creator Steven Knight, the film picks up during World War II. It depicts Oscar-winner Murphy reprising his role as gang leader Tommy Shelby, who returns from self-imposed exile to face a new reckoning in a city devastated by war.
The premiere underscored the franchise's deep connection to Birmingham. Local tributes included a metro tram named after Knight and a makeover for the station's mechanical bull, Ozzy, which donned a giant flat cap for the occasion. The film hits cinemas this Friday for a limited two-week run before streaming on Netflix from 20 March. Following the movie, the franchise is set to continue with a new series focusing on the next generation of the Shelby family.
