10 Bangladeshis killed in BSF border violence in first half of 2026: ASK
The rights body records 21 border incidents between January and June, leaving 10 dead, 10 injured and one person detained.

At least 10 Bangladeshis were killed in incidents involving India's Border Security Force (BSF) during the first six months of 2026, according to data released by human rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
The organisation documented 21 incidents of border violence between January and June, recording 10 deaths, 10 injuries and one case of abduction or detention.

According to the report, seven of the victims were shot dead by BSF personnel, while three others died after being subjected to physical torture.
The ASK also recorded 10 people injured in separate incidents of border violence during the period. In addition, one person was abducted or detained by the BSF.
The rights body said no deaths were reported while victims were being chased by BSF personnel during the reporting period. It also recorded no cases in which abducted Bangladeshis were returned.
The incidents were reported from border areas under the Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Chattogram and Mymensingh divisions.
The ASK added that the data was compiled from reports published in national newspapers.
