BRACU Duburi qualifies two underwater vehicles for RoboSub 2026 semi-finals
BRAC University's student-led underwater robotics research team, BRACU Duburi, has made history by qualifying two autonomous underwater vehicles—Duburi 4.5 and DuboMini 2.0—for the semi-finals of RoboSub 2026.
This achievement places the team among only two worldwide to qualify multiple vehicles for this stage of the competition.
This milestone further cements BRACU Duburi's reputation as a leader in student-led underwater robotics. Established in 2017, BRACU Duburi pioneered the development of autonomous underwater vehicles in Bangladesh and has consistently represented both BRAC University and the country at international competitions.
The team has earned international acclaim for innovation and technical excellence, securing the World Runner-Up position at RoboSub 2023 and receiving the Ingenuity Award for engineering solutions.
At RoboSub 2025, BRACU Duburi ranked eighth globally and received the Entrepreneurship Award for advancing underwater robotics and fostering innovation within Bangladesh's technology sector.
This year, both autonomous underwater vehicles qualified for the semi-finals. Duburi 4.5, the flagship vehicle, exemplifies years of research, development, and competition, while DuboMini 2.0 demonstrates the team's commitment to compact, agile, and advanced underwater technologies.
RoboSub, organised annually in the United States, is recognised as one of the world's foremost underwater robotics competitions. The event challenges leading university teams to design and operate autonomous underwater vehicles capable of executing complex missions without human intervention.
BRACU Duburi stated that being among only two teams worldwide to qualify multiple vehicles for the semi-finals is a testament to the technical expertise and dedication of its members, and underscores BRAC University's commitment to research, innovation, and experiential learning.
As BRACU Duburi prepares for the next stage of RoboSub 2026, this qualification marks another significant milestone for BRAC University and highlights Bangladesh's expanding role in the global underwater robotics arena.
