Nine killed as Israeli airstrikes pound southern Lebanon
Israel carried out some of its heaviest strikes in Lebanon since the Hezbollah ceasefire began, leaving at least nine people dead and dozens wounded. Lebanese officials said civilians, including children, were among the casualties as raids hit several locations across southern Lebanon.
Israel said it targeted Hezbollah infrastructure sites, while Hezbollah responded with drones and rockets toward northern Israel. Despite the escalation, Israeli and Lebanese representatives are still expected to hold direct talks in Washington next week.
