For years, the smartwatch has been the go-to wearable for tracking health, fitness, and notifications. But a new device is quietly slipping onto people's fingers. Smart rings—compact devices packed with sensors—are emerging as an alternative for those who want health insights without the bulk of a watch.
Despite their minimalist appearance, smart rings can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, skin temperature, sleep quality, stress levels, and daily activity.
Some models also provide menstrual cycle tracking, readiness scores, and personalised wellness insights through companion smartphone apps. Unlike smartwatches, they are discreet and lightweight and require little interaction, making them appealing to users who want to stay connected without constantly checking a screen.

Leading the trend is the Oura Ring, regarded as one of the most advanced smart rings available today.
Made from lightweight titanium, it offers up to eight days of battery life and uses multiple sensors to collect health data throughout the day and night. Samsung has also entered the category with the Galaxy Ring, designed to integrate seamlessly with the Galaxy ecosystem and Samsung Health app.
Other brands, including Ultrahuman, RingConn, and Amazfit, are also expanding the market with models targeting fitness enthusiasts and tech-savvy consumers.

Budget-friendly options such as the Ximax R02 Smart Ring and COLMI R02 Smart Ring are sold by Star Tech, with prices starting from around Tk 2,450 and Tk 2,850, respectively. Both offer basic health features including heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, activity tracking, Bluetooth connectivity and IP68 water resistance.
For buyers looking for premium wearables, the Oura Ring 5 has also reached Bangladesh through import channels and is now listed by Star Tech for around Tk 99,500.
It offers more advanced sleep analysis, recovery insights, temperature monitoring and up to nine days of battery life, although many of its advanced features require a paid subscription. The Amazfit Helio Smart Ring and Riversong Trinity Smart Ring have also appeared in local retail catalogues, indicating that the category is gradually expanding.
