ShopUp expands Bangladesh food exports to Saudi Arabia, UK and UAE
ShopUp, Bangladesh's largest B2B commerce platform, has successfully completed the export of 300 metric tonnes of rice to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom under a government-approved export allocation.
Rice exports to Saudi Arabia and the UK
ShopUp successfully shipped 300 metric tonnes of rice to Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, meeting the quality, compliance and logistics requirements of both markets.
The ability to serve Saudi Arabia and the UK, home to a large South Asian diaspora and highly quality-conscious consumers, demonstrates ShopUp's growing operational and regulatory readiness across multiple international markets.
Expansion into fresh produce
In a significant category expansion, ShopUp has entered the fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits segment, a category that requires tighter sourcing coordination, faster logistics and greater supply chain precision compared to dry food staples.
Upcoming export pipeline
Building on this momentum, ShopUp is actively expanding its export pipeline into additional Bangladeshi food categories, including mustard oil, puffed rice and other dry food staples, as part of its broader effort to strengthen Bangladesh's presence in international food markets.
"Bangladesh produces far more than the world currently sees. Our goal is not to make occasional export shipments; it is to build the infrastructure that allows Bangladeshi food products to reliably reach global markets at scale. Rice and fresh produce are the starting point, but over time we believe Bangladesh can become a much stronger food export player across multiple categories," said ShopUp Bangladesh CEO Ataur Rahim.
Supporting Bangladesh's export diversification agenda
ShopUp's export expansion comes at a pivotal moment for Bangladesh.
With the readymade garment sector accounting for more than 80% of the country's merchandise exports, diversification has become a key national priority.
Bangladesh's Export Policy 2024–2027 identifies agricultural and processed food exports as major growth sectors as the country pursues broader long-term export diversification and growth ambitions.
ShopUp's export model aligns closely with this national agenda by expanding Bangladeshi agricultural and food products into international markets through structured, compliant and demand-driven trade infrastructure.
