Midland Bank receives mastercard membership licence

Md Ahsan-uz-Zaman, Managing Director and CEO of Midland Bank PLC, received a Mastercard-affiliated membership licence from Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh, at a ceremony held at the bank's head office in Dhaka on 1 February 2026.

Through this partnership, Midland Bank has become a Mastercard-affiliated member, enabling its card division to issue Mastercard credit, debit, and prepaid cards. The collaboration will allow customers to access seamless ATM, point-of-sale, and e-commerce transactions worldwide. It will also facilitate digital wallet integration, cross-border payments, and other Mastercard digital services, supporting faster and more secure everyday banking.

The licence handover ceremony was attended by Md Zahid Hossain, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer; Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director, Head of IT, and Chief Technology Officer; Mohd Javed Tarek Khan, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Institutional Banking Division; Md Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution and Chief Bancassurance Officer; and Md Abed-ur-Rahman, Head of Cards, from Midland Bank.

Sohail Alim, Director at Mastercard, was also present at the event.
