Government working to ensure safe drinking water for urban residents
The government is intensifying efforts to provide safe and pure drinking water to urban and municipal residents as part of its broader development agenda, said State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
Sultan Salauddin Tuku stated that a range of infrastructure development projects are underway nationwide, aligned with the prime minister's development initiatives to raise living standards.
He made these remarks while inaugurating a 680-cubic-metre overhead water tank near the Eidgah field in Ward No 6, Tangail Municipality, where he attended as chief guest.
The Department of Public Health Engineering is implementing the project under the Water Supply System Expansion and Development Project.
Sultan Salauddin Tuku noted that constructing overhead water tanks in Ward No 6 and the Ashekpur Bypass area would significantly enhance public health by ensuring residents have uninterrupted access to safe drinking water.
He added that these initiatives would further drive local development.
Earlier, Sultan Salauddin Tuku laid the foundation stone for another overhead water tank in the Ashekpur Bypass area, aiming to ensure a reliable supply of clean water for the town's residents.
Tangail Municipality Administrator and Additional District Magistrate (General) Sanjay Kumar Mohanta; Mahmudul Haque Sanu, former member secretary of the district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party; along with local public representatives, municipal officials and political leaders, attended the event.
