Feni University Treasurer Masudul Hoq made acting vice-chancellor
Feni University has named Treasurer Dr Md Masudul Hoq Chowdhury as Acting Vice-Chancellor, effective immediately and until further notice, as part of efforts to ensure uninterrupted leadership at the institution.
According to an office order signed by the Registrar, Dr Md Masudul Hoq Chowdhury will continue as Treasurer while fulfilling the duties of Acting Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was made under Section 31(6) of the Private University Act, 2010. Dr Md Masudul Hoq Chowdhury will exercise the powers and responsibilities of the Acting Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the law and the university's statutes, ordinances, rules, and existing policies.
"I express my sincere gratitude to the university authorities for entrusting me with the responsibility of Acting Vice-Chancellor of Feni University," said Dr Md Masudul Hoq Chowdhury.
"I will work with utmost sincerity and dedication to advance the university through education, research, good governance, financial transparency and improved academic quality. I seek the wholehearted cooperation of teachers, students, officials, employees, the Board of Trustees and all stakeholders in achieving these goals," he added.
Dr Md Masudul Hoq Chowdhury joined Feni University as Treasurer on 10 February 2026. Previously, he served as Additional Director General of the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development in Cumilla.
According to the university, his research on environmentally friendly sanitation and low-cost incubation technology has earned him a national gold medal and several innovation awards.
He graduated from Bangladesh Agricultural University and later obtained a postgraduate diploma from the Nordic Agricultural Academy in Denmark. He also earned a Master of Science and a Doctor of Science degree from Hiroshima University in Japan, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Education for Sustainable Development at the United Nations University in Japan.
He has also worked with several international organisations, including the United Nations, focusing on institutional governance, transparency, accountability and sustainable development.
