DUET vice-chancellor congratulates president Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir
Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Iqbal has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh's 23rd president and DUET's chancellor.
In a message issued today (21 August), the vice-chancellor also extended his best wishes to Mirza Fakhrul, who has been invited to serve as the university's chancellor.
"Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is widely recognised as an experienced, prudent and accomplished politician. Throughout his long political career, he has made significant contributions to the country's politics and public life through his intellect, wisdom, foresight and leadership," Professor Iqbal said.
"I am delighted that such a wise and veteran politician has been elected to lead the state. His election reflects the nation's unwavering confidence in his extensive political experience and strong leadership," he added.
Professor Iqbal expressed hope that the president-elect's prudent, discerning and firm leadership would open a new chapter in the country's democratic journey and reflect the aspirations of its people.
He said Mirza Fakhrul's experience and wisdom would contribute significantly to advancing higher education, research and the pursuit of knowledge.
"Under his multidimensional and forward-looking guidance as chancellor, the country's universities will make further progress in improving the quality of higher education, expanding research, applying science and information technology, and generating innovative knowledge of international standards," the vice-chancellor said.
He also hoped Bangladesh's universities would gain greater global recognition under the new chancellor's leadership.
Professor Iqbal expressed confidence that Mirza Fakhrul would uphold the dignity of the country's highest constitutional office and help consolidate democracy, establish the rule of law, promote national unity, and advance public welfare.
He further hoped that Bangladesh's standing would be strengthened and its image enhanced internationally under the president-elect's leadership.
The vice-chancellor wished Mirza Fakhrul good health, longevity and overall well-being, as well as success in his new responsibilities.
