Canadian-Bangladeshi chef competes to promote Bangladesh’s food heritage
Canadian-Bangladeshi chef and food culture advocate Madiha Turshin is set to represent Bangladesh at the FavChef 2026 global culinary competition, highlighting the depth, diversity and international relevance of Bangladeshi cuisine.
A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Grand Diplôme, Madiha was born in Bangladesh and is now based in Canada. She founded Yum Moments, a platform that explores food through the lenses of culture, art, history and innovation.
Her career includes collaborations with leading Canadian culinary establishments, with expertise spanning multiple global cuisines and a particular focus on Bangladeshi heritage.
Madiha sees food as a powerful means of identity and connection. Through FavChef 2026, she aims to secure wider global recognition for Bangladeshi cuisine.
An active member of the Chefs Canada National Culinary Association and a Certified Professional in Food Safety (CP-FS), she also engages in food research, education, media and gastronomy projects centred on diaspora representation.
Through storytelling and immersive culinary experiences, Madiha continues to connect global audiences to Bangladesh's culinary heritage.
She is seeking public support as voting for FavChef 2026 continues.
