A mobile court has sentenced a man to six months' imprisonment for posing as a doctor and providing medical treatment without holding a valid medical degree in Satkhira's Kaliganj upazila.
The convict, identified as Yasin Ali, was sentenced during a drive led by Mainul Islam Khan, assistant commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate, conducted at Nalta Manab Swapna Health Care Centre in the Nalta area today (15 June).
"Yasin does not hold an MBBS degree or any recognised qualification to practise as a physician. However, he used the title 'Doctor', examined patients and provided treatment," said Mainul Islam Khan.
He said evidence gathered during the raid confirmed the allegations.

Authorities further alleged that a number of people had suffered harm as a result of his incorrect treatment. In view of the offences, the mobile court sentenced Yasin to six months of imprisonment.
