Dhaka South launches 'Clean Care' app to make waste management system more transparent, accountable

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched a new digital app, "Clean Care", aimed at accelerating the resolution of citizens' complaints related to waste management, drainage and urban cleanliness.

The application was officially inaugurated today (7 July) at the DSCC's Nagar Bhaban auditorium by the Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md Abdus Salam.

According to the DSCC, the app will enable residents to submit complaints digitally on issues including waste collection, litter, drainage blockages, waterlogging and sanitation.

Users will also be able to track the progress of their complaints in real time, a feature the corporation said would help ensure faster and more transparent service delivery.

Speaking at the launching event, Salam said, "The Clean Care app would make the city's waste management system more digital, transparent and accountable.

"Residents will be able to report waste removal and cleanliness-related problems from their homes and monitor the status of their complaints instantly," he said.

He added that data collected through the platform would be analysed to identify areas with recurring waste management problems, determine where additional personnel or vehicles are required, and support evidence-based decisions on resource allocation and budget priorities.

Salam also stressed that maintaining a clean city requires not only the efforts of the city corporation but also active public participation and support from the media.

DSCC Chief Waste Management Officer Air Commodore Md Mahabubur Rahman Talukder said that, following an evaluation of the app's performance, its scope would be expanded to include complaints related to drainage, damaged roads and roads affected by excavation work.

"The data generated through the platform will also be used to inform future urban development planning and budget preparation," he added.
