Two arrested with foreign pistol, ammunition in Khilgaon

Police arrested two individuals along with a foreign pistol, four rounds of ammunition, a magazine, and a private car during a raid in the capital's Khilgaon area this morning (22 March).
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed that the arrests took place around 6:30am in the Shekher Jaiga area under Khilgaon Police Station.
The arrestees were identified as Md Safayet Hossain, alias Sentu, 44, and Md Sabuj, alias Emon, 25.
Talebur said that police received information early in the morning that the suspects were loitering suspiciously in the area in a private car. Acting on the tip-off, officers carried out a raid and apprehended Safayet and Sabuj.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a foreign pistol, four bullets, a magazine, and the private car from the suspects' possession.
A case has been filed against the arrestees under the Arms Act at Khilgaon Police Station, Talebur said.
According to the DMP official, the suspects are active members of an organised criminal group.
During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to keeping the pistol, bullets, and magazine to commit crimes, including mugging, in the Khilgaon area, Talebur said.
The arrestees have been sent to court, he added.
Safayet faces a total of four cases, including murder, arms, and narcotics-related offences, while Sabuj has two cases for robbery and theft.
